If you listen from 02:00 to 10:00 on this link you can (at least until 16 August) hear Professor Andrew Bacevich of Boston University speaking eloquently, powerfully and sometime movingly about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, his own past service in the military and his own son's death while serving in Iraq.
Of particular interest, I thought, were his remark that within the military dissent and independent thinking are hard to do because of the overriding emphasis on duty and discipline; the comment that 'there is a military-industrial complex, there is a national security state'; and his comment that President Obama squandered the 'extraordinary moral authority' which he wielded during his first year in office.
